Covered about 4k miles on this filter now so decided to try out the K&N filter recharge kit.
Kit comes with a cleaning/degreaser and fresh filter oil.

I didn't realise how dirty it had become. I'll let the pics do the talking.

only 4k miles and you clean it, they suppose to last 50k miles before it need a recharge, however I did mine well before the 50k is up

Just don't leave the dishes in with it as the mrs goes mad

I was going to buy the cleaning kit tomorrow from halfrauds but if I can get away with using the dishwasher to clean it i'll do it that way instead.
What about oiling it afterwards, can you get the oil separate?

Suede steering wheel that had been gummed up with dirt and oil. Will admit that the dishwasher didn't quite do the job so it joined me in the bath. Was like new after a good going over

Yes you will need to re-oil it id guess. The one I used was an oil free filter, pretty sure you can buy the oil separately.

Cleaned mine last week too after only 6K & have to say it was filthy. Looks like new now kit cost £10 from JJC & it's an easy job well worth doing.

Frayz the filter looked better in the first pic when it was dirty/black as it matched the rest of the bay better than the clean one ,on a serious note,def looks like a job worth doing and much cheaper than shelling out 80 quid for a new one,engine bay looks superb by the way.

Frayz, I remember buying the same kit for the cone filter on my old 205 GTi. Made a big difference and the amount of crap that came out/colour change of the filter before and after was worth the small investment.

Got my kit from Larkspeed I think, in 2008.
