Default boost cut

Hi guys i haved a 97 turbo2000 wagon standard apart from full decat exhaust system. i have fitted a fmic and cone filter(Tried to keep standard air box but would not fit) since fitting it my check engine light has come on. it is fine when driving normal but when you give it a boot full its like im getting boost cut just before it hits full boost and when it happens if i didnt have my belt on i would be going through the windscreen its quite violant when it happens. can any one shed any light on weather it is boost cut or could it be some thing else and is there any thing that could be done to stop it.

any help is appreciated. thanks phil

Since fitting the fmic, cone filter and the full decat have you had it remapped?

Not another one who's modified the car without having it setup......

The car needs mapping, without it you WILL damage the engine. Its expensive, best part of £500 unfortunately.

Car had exhaust on when I got it I've just fitted fmic and cone filter. I am going to get it remapped anyway cos I have other mods waiting to go to hit 300 bhp. Just wondered if there was any thing that I could do in the mean time to stop it happening.

Yes............Stop driving it.

At least stop driving it on boost or it'll get expensive.

eh???

front mount and air filter will make it lean, bigger injectors will make it richer, so it would be safer to drive if he had fitted them

if you need to drive it, either don't go anywhere near boost or put it back to std. then fit all parts when it's gonna be mapped

Is there anyway to tell if a car has been mapped or not?

Reason I ask is my classic has a 3" system from turbo back s/s up pipe (only found that out when changing oil yesterday), k & n filter but other than that looks standard. The previous owner mentioned it had, had a td05 turbo and had been remapped by the guy he had bought it off but has no proof.

Now the car boosts fine, no engine light, no dodgy idle feels a lot more powerful than a standard 220bhp car no knocks or bangs from engine no boost cut or spiking either, very little lag hitting full boost at around 2800/3200 rpm no engine light, car boost to just under a bar and holds it steady. And I'm seeing 25-30psi on vac

Going to be booking her into scoobyworld soon for a health check and maybe get it on rolling rd to check fuelling ect, but don't want to pay for a remap if its already been done
