Default Hawkeye Spec D opinions

Decent Imprezas for sale are quite rare over here and jsut seen this advert. I really like the look of the Hawkeye and fancied something in the 300bhp area so this seems ideal.

Also like the understated looks of the low spoiler. Problem is I know nothing about the different Impreza specs as I've always been a Honda man till I got a Newage WRX.

Does this advert seem genuine and is it worth taking a look at.

I love my Spec D, having some water / possibly HG issues at the moment though, but I'll get there.

Can't beat it when something is at the lights with you and you can almost hear the driver of the other car saying to his mates "It's ok guys, it's only a WRX" hmmm, ok, ta ta son!

Discreet is good.

It ticks all the boxes for me where you have the pounce - ability of an STi in more sublte clothing.

IOM? Not been thrashed to death we hope?

Owned a Spec D between 2008 and 2011 and ran her for around 50k miles (75k on clock when I sold her).

Suffered HG failure at around 40k, the only problem that I had in the time I owned it. The car was forged and ran fine after that. It would appear that the early batch of 2.5 cars and the Spec D were slightly more prone to HG failure for whatever reason as has been postulated before on here.

Having owned many Imprezas my only criticism is that the UK Hawkeye is something of an acquired taste. The interior was fab for an Impreza with huge comfy leather seats and a few worthwhile toys. I thought the car was fantastic on smooth roads and the torquey engine made it an amazing road car but over rough surfaces I found it difficult to press hard without serious discomfort yet it was not focussed in the same way my two other newage cars (my bugeye before it and blob after) felt. This is my opinion and I am not saying it is a bad car, in fact far from it as I loved pretty much every minute I had the car even when it blew up!

However, for that price and service history you are getting a bargain even if it needs a little work (it would appear that it doesn't) and if you want to modify it in any way you have a fantastic base to start off with.

The main reason to buy one is if you don't wish to draw attention to yourself.
Otherwise (I would agree) there is little point.

To be fair they draw attention even in Spec D guise If you've driven a range of imprezas this wouldn't be high on the list of 'drivers' imprezas

They're exactly the same spec as any Hawkeye STi, just toned down a bit.
I personally don't like the gold wheels and blue interior trim, preferring the more subtle look.

Oh yeah, and when people mistake it for a WRX too..

I think subaru should of put an A-line lip spoiler on the spec D instead of the WRX ironing board. Then it would of been Discrete.
