Default Gauges, more the merrier?

I'm thinking about having some more gauges, I already have boost, oil temp and pressure and i'm umming and areing about what else to get, I'm pretty much sold on two of the three being AFR and Water temp.

So question is what's the third one going to be and why, has to be three because they will go in a dash top pod on my newage, the other three are in a modified v3 pod to the right and above the main instrument panel which I really like because it's easy to see, so won't be changing to a pillar jobbie because I don't like gauges on the pillar.

I think fuel pressure is one of the most important and often missed. Low fuel pressure= lean running engine. Id personaly go for one over a boost guage.

Fuel pressure and an accurate water temperature are what I have on a twin A-pillar pod.

The fp gauge has already saved my engine once

Are they Defis, or similar? My Defi fp gauge is linked to the boost gauge to give DIFFERENTIAL pressure. ie: the difference in pressure between the two, which should remain the same under all conditions.
I have that set, and the warning on the fp gauge set so it goes off if the fp falls more than 0.3 bar more than the 3.3 bar it should be above boost.

That's what saved the engine.

Oil temp, oil pressure, boost, wideband afr, fuel pressure, water temp and a knock link.

Many don't bother with the fuel pressure but it saved my **** when my fuel pump was failing.

I have 3 pro sport sweeper style so not sure if they can link in the same way as the defis as there is no controller, I was planning on getting the same again.

Nowt's impossible if you are willing to wait.

I watched ebay for FIVE years before a particular kit I wanted came up, it had been out of production ten years. I got it boxed and unstarted.

Just wait.

Oil temp, oil pressure, boost, Fuel pressure and AFR here, AFR gauge came in handy in conjunction with the fuel pressure when my fuel pump was starting to fail, I noticed on WOT in boost my AFR's had gone up to nearly bang on 12 from low 11's, As alcazar says when it's used with the boost in differential mode you can see the pressure drop, I think it was around .7 bar which is enough to cause the car to lean out.

I know people say defis are expensive but compared to an engine they are a bargain.

Out of that lot the second one because I like the colour, or the last one because of the parts, first one is ok too but I don't think I could live with the colour i'm not helping much am I.

I can see why your struggling but knowing what we both know I think you should wait a bit more, none of those are in the "un molested minter" category unless you do a colour change on the first one

It's a tricky one mate, I hate these cars, I know how crack ****** feel since I got involved with Imprezas, I'm going to find a Escort MK1 shell and do that up.

Hi there

If you have aftermarket ECU like Syvecs,AlcaTek you don't need to buy gauges and have only one like is it Toucan or you can go route of digital dash, with right sensors will transmit all data which you are want

I don't want to go aftermarket ecu with this car as it's not getting modded, I'm not a mods type person, everything I do to my cars is out of necessity or mild upgrades based on cost v's quality as opposed to modifications so to speak, and aftermarket ecu's are too bloody expensive, not even sure i'd know how to operate digital dash and toucan so good old fashioned dials that flash and bleep so I don't need to press anything or get involved with fancy programming etc, I'm an old dog and don't like new tricks.

I've got five gauges, plus a KnockLink which has been fitted around the fuel pressure gauge at almost eye level, and a LambdaLink fitted to the lower part of the clocks.

It was a mixture of some KL activity and a beep from the fp gauge that saved my engine.

Knock links can be had for about £50, if you can find one that is. Don't seem to come up for sale very often and when they do they sell quick.

Heres where I had mine fitted. ....

This one, although not the toucan as I don't really like the size of it so I have an MXL Strada dash for mine
