Am I happy or what with my new WRX
#1
I picked up my new WRX from Monty`s in Sheffield on Saturday
I am absolutely in heaven
WR blue, morettes, colour coded sills, new momo race air gear **** and tracker fitted.
It looks fantastic, and even though I am trying to keep under 4000 revs the performance is superb
Can`t think I have ever been happier with a new car

Glad you are enjoying it, you bought it from the same place as me
May see you around Sheffield as I work there
First few thousand miles are slow and tight. I've only done 2700 and its still tight.

Hi Guys - well what can I say - the thing's blo*dy fantastic. Done 2,200 miles so far and loosening up nicely. Enough to scare the pants off a 944 Club Sport the other week......

Glad you are having fun, it will get better and better. I thought I knew how quick these cars are and then, one night coming home on some lovely back roads I know in Suffolk I was chased by a 911 and while he could catch me on the straight bits I was gaining a good 2 - 3 car lengths on the twisties. I think I was as surprised as he was.
Laugh, I nearly sh*t meself
BTW he never did get past me and turned off.

Obviously after listening to all you guys on here I am keeping to the suggested maximum revs of 4000 for the first 1000 miles.
But after the 1000 miles can I use all the power or do I still have to keep under a certain limit ?
Hope you guys can help
In the meantime I have just got to 200 miles and the performance and especially the grip just amaze me.

Pah you low mileage boys! You should feel how loose the engine is after 30k!!
When you change the tires you will be amazed at actually how much grip the does have.
Enjoy it and remember shiny side up!

It was something that was said at TSL as one of their technicians as he drove me and my car out for a test drive.
It amused me at the time and have used it ever since!

Glad you like the car. Mines 6 weeks old, 2,500 miles on the clock and rev's nicely!
I felt a difference after the 1000 mile oil change.
I don't care what they say about the new impreza...despite the bug eyes, the inside is excellent compared to the old style. (I did replace the bugs with Morettes though!)
Only faults with mine is a consistent squeal under v gentle braking (coming to a stop), 5th gear synchro going after 4 weeks - being fixed at the mo. and not being able to remove the massive grin off my face when I hear the engine and transmission sounds at full throttle!! wicked..!!

Mine still squeaks for the last few mph before standstill (but only when the pads have cooled. Constant accelerating and braking etc on a good B road blast cures it temporarily Until you get back into town again amidst the traffic) I reckon this "fault" is another one of those "well, they all do that sir"

No more mods planned at the moment
Funds being depleted somewhat re the purchase
However no one has come back to me on the position re the revs after 1000 miles

Sorry missed the question...
Until you have the 1,000 mile service keep it under the 4,000rpm (for the most part... the occasional blip is okay).
After the service... introduce your right foot to the floor (once it is properly warmed up!)!!
The UK cars (I can't comment on the EU cars) have a light oil in the engine to start with and this apparently goes bad if put through to much punishment. After the service you have normal oil and can play.

The EU cars also have this light "cooking" oil.
Gibsons of Brock advised to stay under 4000 rpm up to the oil change around 1000 miles. After that I was told to gradually increase the rpm..not all in one go though!

Just make sure it's warmed up before you play and let it cool down for a while afterwards.
Had mine for two months now and just keeps getting better every time I get in it....it has the "smile per mile" factor that you just cann't get anywhere else for the money.
Happy motoring .... as you're not far away, perhaps we'll see you at some of the E.Mids meetings some time.

The occasional wondering over the 4,000 run-in limit will not do any long-term damage as long it is only occasionally.
In fact there is a school of thought that say that doing odd blips is actually good for the engine in the long run as you get closer to the 1,000 miles.
The first service BTW is basically an oil change and checks.

I believe they also check levels on the other fluids as they can fall on new cars / new parts fitted. At least that's what I was told on my last car and also after the previous one was back from menders.
