Hello,
First of all my name's Rich, I'm 21 and I'm from East Sussex (Hailsham). I had a 1991 WRX when I was 18 which I drove around for a few months then couldn't afford £500 a month insurance.
This is my first year on my own insurance as I never drove much I always used my dads car so I don't even have a years no claims bonus but I wanted to buy something at the moment as just a track car. I love cars and for some reason always loved the Scoobys.
If I did buy one I would use it a couple of times a week (just get temp day insurance) until I can afford a years insurance (hopefully be about a year) and mainly take the car up to track days with some members here or whatever.
I'm on a bit of a tight budget if I'm honest, I have about £2000 cash but I have been accept on finance on cars in the past (up to £8000) so I'll have a hunt around and see what I can get with my financial options.
I'm looking for some advice as to what I could get with my budget, anything I should stay away from? etc...I would probably be just looking at the WRX, not STI as the insurance would be even more, not bothered about the age really, I like all shapes.
Thanks in advance

Depends if the two grand includes insurance? If it does, you ain't gonna find a lot.
You MIGHT get a bug WRX for that, unlikely.. and it might be a bit of a dog.
Else a Turbo 2000 is probably your best bet.
Take a look at day temporary insurance too. It's a bit of a rip off at our age. But if you've been willing to pay 500 quid a month insurance, it might look like a bargain to you.

The 2 grand is just for the car. There has been a slight change of plan since my last post as I have just found out it's illegal to keep a car tax'd without insurance so that wouldn't work for me.
So the new plan is to put £2000 down as a deposit and get a nice 2004/2005 on finance, wait until September time and then get a years insurance (just found out if I paid for my insurance for a year upfront it's much much cheaper than paying monthly). Still a lot but affordable for the year.

Try elephant, I got my scooby 2000 turbo when I was 21. Paid about £1000 for the year, now 23 and it's about £400. I did find the UK classics cheaper to insure, if you get a 99/00 plate car, they aren't that bad. Not as powerful as most, but still enough to keep you with a smile.

I just found a lovely 03 WRX blue thats about 25 miles away and the insurance on it is £2500 a year which I dont think is too bad considering it's my first year by myself and I got a month ban for speeding a couple of years ago

I wouldn't pay that much for insurance even tho I love my scooby, maybe keep your car and save till its cheaper, I think that wrx is a little expensive, seen ones with less miles for similar

I will have a look, I just am 95% sure I can get finance with them but will shop around
