Just sold my P1 & purchased a new evo VII FQ-300. Am picking it up at the end of May.

There's nothing wrong with the P1 at all. My 14 months ownership have been just fantastic. However the evo VII has 4 doors and three diagonal seat belts that I need for my wife and 3 growing daughters.

My sadness at losing the P1 equals the merriment of taking delivery of the VII so overall it's going to be a neutralised emotional swop over.

I'll post my experience of FQ-300 ownershipo after I've put a few miles on the thing. My opinions will be straight and unbiased.

Cool

Do you know what FQ stands for?

Let's just put it this way - Q stands for Quick!

Has this on good authority!

Z80 - Ive had a evo 7 for about 10 months - monster of a car. But everyone who travels as a passenger hates it! - very hard ride and the acceleration makes some people feel sick!!

From a drivers point of view - I love the car - find it quite comfortable and refined even with a apexi exhaust. Just dont take your wife and daughters out to often!!

regards, Andy

Bear in mind that the engine is very tight on the evo's for the first 4-5000 miles (unless you thrash it from day 1)

Question

What is the diff between the EVO VII and the EVO VII FQ-300.
Is it as simple as a re-map???

I think the FQ300 has different exhaust system as well as ECU remap. M8 takes delivery of one in June (decided to dump his TT and get something quicker than my Integrale ) so will be able to give unbiased view from co-drivers seat

FQ300 is a standard Evo 7 RSII with a different exhaust and air filter. That's all.

I think the car's based on the RSII but the gearing's the same as the GSR. Someone tell me if this is a wrong assumption.

There's no climate aircon - justordinary aircon. No heated mirrors & no rear wipe. RainX will cure the latter & I'm used to no climate aircon in the P1. Heated mirrors? well I'll just have to miss those.

Thanks for the information on engine tightness. The demonstrator I drove seemed reluctant to go. (Compared to my P1 with 11,400 miles).

The dealer thinks the FQ300 just means an exhaust and airfilter change. Spoke with Ralliart (or xtreme auto's) & they're not sure what the FQ300 is.

Whatever, I don't think it'll be as fun as the P1. I'm not up for driving sideways (something I gather the evo VII does well). I'll let people know. 7 days to go.
