Default Is this anyone you know???

Hey Guys,

Im looking at getting back into a Scooby after a break of 2 years. I really like the classic and the budget wonmt stretch to new shape. I am currently watching a few on ebay, but this one keeps catching my eye. Does anybody knows who's it is or history etc. Another thing that baffles me is the BHP, with the mods listed should it not be higher?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1710244044...#ht_759wt_1121

Is the dastek causing the problem?

Whats your thoughts

Saw this myself Steve as I'm looking for a well sorted classic.

Like you say, the BHP baffles me as with those mods it should be around the 280 mark. I'm not fimiliar with the dastek piggyback ecu, on a V reg it should have an ecutek map so you'd need to budget £550 to have it mapped and set up correctly. The rest of the spec seems ok, no mention of arch rust and a reasonable list of mods (I would want the burble back tho so the headers would have to go). Mileage is a tad high but not too bad, I'd want to see a decent history on it tho.

I'd say if you can get it close to 2k its worth it, bearing in mind the cost of a proper map.

LOL.

The seller obviously knows **** all, it came with a td04 from the factory.

That car just rings alarm bells to me.

Why would you not go down the route of ECUTEK remap but choose a piggyback chip

Cost no doubt.

Ecutek map all in your looking at the best part of £550, a second hand piggy back crap off ebay for £150 tops.

It's a shame because its looks in great condition. Might be worth a stab and have it properly mapped.. I have asked the seller what he means by larger TD04. And if it has been mapped etc before.

That's a good point. Didn't look at it that way to be honest.

I'm looking around at the moment, for something with sorted mechanicals that I can then sort cosmetically to how I want it. I've learned the hard way before that buying a car that LOOKS good usually ends in big bills.

There was another one on ebay billed as a "show car" with "no expense spared" but it had 140,000 on the clock and a TON of mods like FMIC, VF turbo etc but when I chatted to the owner about the mapping he said "sod that mate, I'm a mechanic and we get mapped imprezas in here all the time that have blown up". He got the dialling tone.....

Its on gumtree for £3200, the bloke is a dreamer. Its a polished turd. He was asking me all sorts of advice on the phone and said "I've had the usual muppets offering me 2 grand" to which I said TAKE IT!

Then he txt me yesterday saying he still had it so I replied saying its overpriced, high mileage and needs a £550 ecutek map just to run safely. He sent me a

It's becoming a mind field to find a half decent classic. I don't mind doing a bit of work but on the other hand I don't want a project
