Apart from the..

Alcantara STI seats
Red stitch steering wheel
Red stitch gear ****
STI badged clocks, with 7.5k red line
STI badges on the wings
Carbon strut brace
"Tuned by STI" badge on the belt cover in the engine bay
Forged pistons
Slightly larger intercooler, silver and STI badged
Mid level spoiler (option on the WRX)
Different ECU with higher boost level
Pink badge on the front grill
Possibly different wheels (can't remember)
Might have intercooler water spray (can't remember)

Think that's about it.

Wrx of that time got 260ps and the sti 275. As for CDB, that was the time when they were being phased out, they may have though.

I actually owned a 95 wrx a few years ago and a good pal owned a sti V2. We went head to head at the pod, I lost by about a second.

Is your friends car a my95 or my96 car. As the only STI available as a my95 was the sti ra. The sti v2 (which was actually available late 95) was a my96 car.

ok so what gave the sti the 275ps then? ecu or turbo setup?

my wrx has the tdo5 turbo. what ecu would the sti use, 6k?? as opposed to my z4.

Off the top of my head im not sure what ecu the sti used.
Turbo's were the same but the sti ran a bit more boost i believe, it was obviously just a little more tuned. The intercooler was also improved on the sti.

What are you trying to achieve ?

V3 STI was the first to get the red inlet manifold.

There wasn't really a MY96 WRX as such - The MY95 and MY96 share a model code as they are exactly the same. I would presume they just carried on knocking out the same cars for the start of 1996 to use up the parts they had before releasing the face-lifted MY97 towards the back end of 1996.

My own STI V2 and my pals both had red original crinkle painted manifolds.

Yep, both the 95 and 96 wrx are the same. The STI however was different as the my95 model was only available as an STI RA. By the my96 the STI V2 was released.

the turbos are the same (td05) the only difference is the ecu (sti used sa, sb, sc) and heads, they were slight different to allow for the higher rev limit. some wrxs had cdb also.
