Default HELP !!

I write this thread in desperation and pray that someone can.

My brother and I have entered this years Scumrun Charity Rally and we have a massive problem.

We have a 1997/98 WRX Impreza, when we bought the car back in November the car didnt have a running engine. We bought a recon engine and paid a mechanic to fit it and it is now running. The problem is it sounds like crap and we're not sure if its a timing or mapping problem and the mechanic is stumped (not a subaru specialist. The company that reconditioned the engine put the timing belt and pullies on so we assume this is correct (possibly).

Here's the issue we leave to do a 3000 mile round trip for charity in 3 wks and we are yet to MOT, Tax and PAINT the car. But its running so bad we can't even think about these problems yet. We have so much at stake if the cars not running we wont be going

Please can anyone help we are really desperate

Thanks

Nick

If there was someone local that had the same model and we could look under their bonnet just to check we've got everything plumbed in correctly would be a great help.

You need to find out what version of engine has been fitted as a basic starting point.

Is the ecu the correct one for the engine?? Have you checked for any fault codes yet?

If you have little knowledge of these engines i think the only way you will get it sorted in time will be taking it to a Subaru specialist.

no problem. see if you can get a picture of the engine bay as well. Will give us a better understanding of whats going on. Finally see if you can see what colour injectors are. Most likely grey or yellow.

have you copied and pasted the direct link into the box that comes up when you click on the mountains and sun box in the toolbar? If not, copy the link into the chat box and I will view it directly.

hell fire!!! :-0 looks like a snakes wedding. I bet you had fun working out what goes where. Lets start with the ECU. Once we establish which one it is then can decide whether it suits the turbo you have. Did you use the ECU that was originally running your transplant engine or have you plugged the new engine into the existing ECU?

There was no ecu with the transplant engine. We just plugged into original ECU
