Default whats my wrx worth roughly

im seriously considering selling my blob wrx to fund my 2-door classic itch but im unsure of what its worth

heres a link to the ad when i bought it,the only things i have changed since then are

low mileage sti short ratio gearbox/diff fitted last week bought from pole position along with a brand new exedy racing clutch bought from rcm

full 3" afterburner exhaust inc raptor backbox (1 week old) bought from scoobyworld

full brake overhaul including new discs/pads/fluid all round, all the bolts were cleaned up,threads cleaned and copper greased

i have stacks and stacks and stacks of paper work

in the link it says its a 2.5 fitted @ 90k,the lad was getting confused the actual engine is a sti short block fitted @ 60k by powerstation,it was a brand new engine and has now covered 38k

i look after my cars and this car has had all fluids replaced twice in my ownership using fuchs oil/syntrax gear oil/ap brake fluid and genuine black oil filters

there is only a couple of bad points

the spoiler isnt a genuine sti one and the paint has cracked on the leading edge of the blade (around 1/2 inch long) and it has let water into the spoiler

the front end could do with a blow over due to stone chips but thats just with the age/mileage of the car

the car is on 97k at the min and other than the gearbox problem the other week the car hasnt let me down once and i use it every day which pains me to sell it as its a good one and sometimes the grass isnt greener on the other side

the car is mot'd until mid november and has 3-4 months tax on it

the car can be sold with or without the porsche brakes but please bear in mind that these fetch around £800+

the turbo was replaced with a low mileage unit bought from sn member addi monster and it doesnt smoke and it boosts fine

inbetween servicing the car uses no oil/water at all

the car has been worked on and provided for by the best in the business including

roger clark motorsport
powerstation tuning
alyn @ asperformance
pr developments
scoobyworld
pole-position
scoobyspares

other than the marks mentioned the car is near enough mint,no rust, dings, dents the interior altho on 97k is flawless

anybody wanting to get into subaru ownership should seriously consider this as its so reliable,ok its not the fastest out there but i would say its one of the cleanest most looked after examples out there

the gearbox has around 57k on it,it was a rebuilt box from api impreza and the engine has around 38k on it so really only the shell has done 97k

heres some links

Stick a wrx motor in it along with swapping the porka brakes with standard 4 pots.
You would get roughly 3 grand for it.
Buy a type r, stick your motor in it and your brakes.
Enjoy.

im not so sure the motor swap is worth it, its an sti bottom end but you can pic these up quite cheap.
its not an sti engine as it has no avcs heads etc.

id keep the brakes and sell the car on, by the time you have bought a second hand wrx lump and paid to fit it etc you will be out of pocket over selling it on with the sti bottom end in it.

plus the fact you have the receipt etc for the new bottom end this will help with the sale.

you will lose money on a modified impreza, you always will.

you seem to have sorted all the problems you had with the car, if you buy another it will also have things that need sorting.

after all a type r is going to be getting on for 15 years old

thats the only thing thats putting me off,my car is a gem mate and it would be a shame to sell it,i just wish it was a bit more of a drivers car, when i sat in my mates type r the other day it felt low-slung and i can imagine it would be a hoot to drive

maybe i need more power and some sorted suspension in my blobeye

buying second hand is a gamble, but as yours is an everyday car id take a drive in a type r before you buy one.

they are a lot more hardcore to drive than a blob wrx will ever be.

My advice would be to offer your friend an extended test in yours, and you in his. As much as a TypeR is an animal, commuting to work etc becomes a drag when it wants to be ragged all the time. That's why I asked if you had driven one, as it will feel like a go-kart and as its older, more shakey.
