04 Sti ride very hard

Guess it depends on what car you have come from? Also depends on what your idea of stiff/hard is. It may not be on standard springs but prodrive which will be a little harder over the standard sti set up.

its on standard alloys with the oem re70 tyres. Do you think it could be tyre pressures? I have come from a rx8 and cupra r? Also compared it to my friends integra type r dc2 and its a harder ride.

The tyres wont help the cause. They have very firm side walls and with the tread pattern feel considerably harder than say Goodyear eagles. I changed my bridgestones when they were worn for eagle F1's and the difference in the ride was unbelievable. Having said that, the bridgestones were awesome when warm and much grippier.
Also, the rear end of an STI can feel 'bouncy' on standard springs. I always found it a bit scary, but changed to Prodrive springs which were alot better.

Checked the tyre pressures and the front was only 2 bar so changed this to manual 2.3 bar. Also the rears had too much pressure so reduced back to 1.9 bar from 2.2 bar. Not been on a motorway since but will try tonight.
Whats funny is that my head is moving around as the car bounces and my eyes are just all over the place. Maybe its age related or i need more time to get used to an sti. I would have thought that a road car would be a bit more softer. What does a 911 turbo ride like then?

Otherwise, may have to pass on to someone else to have the fun - medium length drives resulting in googly eyes and headaches not great!
(Had a classic Wagon 10 years ago, this is my first return to a Scooby and thought it would be better than this! Faded memories or something wrong with the motor .....will find out soon).

I've got visions of buzz eyed STI drivers with googly eyed syndrome, now I know why a few on here think their STI's are sooooo fantastic, it's because their brains have been pounded into mushy peas, explains everything.
