Default Waiting to collect 04 2.0 Wrx Sti, should i change oil pump.

Dear All,

I am waiting to collect me still on Friday and the car is being serviced and its cambelt changed by Cams Performance Scooby Specialist. I have requested that the pulleys and tensionors are replaced as the price was just for the belt replacement.

Brian from Cams said I should not brother with changer the water pump but speaking to others they have said I should change the oil pump and a seal somewhere on the engine whilst the cam belt is out.

The issue I have is where does it stop? I have a stock Still and will be driving it normally.

Regards.

Well iv not long brought a hawkeye sti and it was mint ,,,put sme gauges in shortly after buying it only to find the oil pressure was very low,,,so removed the pump only to find some of the bolts on the inside had worked loose ,,,apparently its quite common ,,,I now have a 12mm modified oil pump and feel very lucky the bolts didn't catch on anything,,,,,here it is how it came out ,, look at the bolts

it never does !

chances are you will be spending a lot more than what a cam belt will cost you over the coming months/years.

if the rollers or tensioners are worn replace them.

i changed my oil pump on my last impreza cam belt service but only because it was seeping slightly.

welcome
siv

Found out from Cams Performance that the old cam belt was in excellent condition but he still changed it as part of the cam belt kit. The only other change that needed doing was he found that there was some wear on the crankshaft pulley so this was also changed. Waiting to pick it up tomorrow. He's left the old parts in the car for me to inspect. Also the car was waxoiled today.

Can never do any harm to change it if you have the cash.
