which paint n primer for under bonnet ally bits ?

I know powdercoating is probably the best way, but fancied a go my self .
i was originally going to polish a few bits but struggled to find a product to stop the ally going furry and didn't want to be polishing it every month . also iv heard that clear coat would yellow over time .
