Gearbox issue. Please help!
I decided to upgrade from a 5 speed to an 07STI 6 speed DCCD box and the problem I'm having is that the gearbox doesn't have axle driveshafts (the stubs with splines coming off the gearbox, for the driveshafts to sit on) So my front driveshafts obviously wont fit. Is there a way of removing the stub shafts from the old 5 speed and putting them into the 6 speed? Or will I need 07 STI driveshafts and in which case, will they fit Subaru classic hubs?
Any advice, I would really appreciate!

No you can't, you either need the pins from the 6 speed or an automatic. They are held into the gearbox on snap rings. I have a feeling that they are called roll pins but I might be wrong there.

Drive the roll pins out and remove the stubs from the shafts, the 5 speed stubs wont fit the box though. and get the seals with the part numbers i put on the last post, there sided so make sure they go in the correct side or they will leak.

Apologies if I am hyjacking the thread.... I have a very similar question, can the 6speed fit into my 01 WRX with the 'adapters' / stubs that you mentioned above.
I was always led to believe that the 6 speed conversion needed the driveshafts, diffs and hubs changed in addition to the box.
thanks for any help clarifying this,
cheers.

When you buy a 6 speed these should be there if the box has been removed correctly and the driveshafts have been disconnected by removing the pin rather than pulled out of the gearbox. It's worth checking when you buy a gearbox, mine were missing hence how I know
I have decided to order the stubs from subaruparts.com at £30 a piece. Will put them on an use my normal driveshafts. Just a warning. I put the engine and gearbox in without realising that the starter motor stud, from the 5 speed, doesn't fit the 6 speed. The 6 speed doesn't have threaded holes, so I'm going to have to tap it and find a stud that will fit
