Default time to go sensible

as much as i really enjoy my scooby its a thirsty bugger and as i just jgetting married and bought a house i need something easier on my pocket . something i dont have to see the petrol stations much with, its a shame as its a nice one well i think so and i spent alot adding few cosmetic bits and just serviced. so now is on ebay but if dont sell i wouldnt be dissapointed

anyone reccomend a good diesel or petrol where i can achieve 40+mpg as i do drive 30 miles a day

RELIABILTY is key , i was looking at alfa gt but alfa reliability???

its a joke init . the thing is there everything is going up aswell as the petrol rip off and its even worse when the goverment say but we need money yet still send heaps of cash to help other countries not far. i work and cant even afford to have a car i want because of silly petrol prices on top of the silly car tax which is daylight robbery especially when there is pot holes everywhere and patches.

regarding the kia i do like the 2 door ceed but i think still over budget?? i like that new veloster turbo from hyundai for a hatchback

Dude - dont go there on the kia... he is taking the **** from another thread lol!

but yes your right the petrol is the killer and your right it does make me look at the Scooby sometimes and see £££ signs above its head.

But i dont know where to go next - i like power, every car i have gone for always has to have more power, and i when i start to get bored i move on.

But for the next car i would need more than 350bhp so i would be looking around the 500bhp mark - but where to go and what to do? i dont want to do for something like the BM's or Audi's as i had the s8 for a while, and because of the size of it - i didnt feel hardly anything from it even though the engine is pulled from the Gallardo!

But then there are the fuel costs to consider etc etc - so i really know what to do - move country i think lol

It's the same with anything - what is it worth to you?

To me, having a quick car that's fun to drive is worth what I pay. Ultimately something else gives way but I'm a lot happier for it.

I drove something very slow and economical recently. It was horrid.

Fuel's gone up due to the exchange rate tumbling.....so they say.

I might just need a scooter to keep myself from having to sell my car.

It's all very well saying that I drive 70 miles a day min, and the cost and tedium of going to the petrol station grates after a while

So I bought a mk4 golf tdi

Probably saves me at least £60 a week at least....... Which I put in the scoob at weekends !!!!

Try leaving your car at a relatives if possible away from your eyes and temptation for a week, then go hire a diesel for a week!!!

You will be gasping to get back in your scoob at any cost!!

If not sell the scoob so that a real man with ***** can own it lol

yeh i gatherd he was having a joke. ye i am stuck in a ruck again and i also get bored very easily as in 4 years i changed my car over 9 times the scooby and the supra i kept the longest a year each. i have bought cars and thought the next day why did i buy this and had it sold the same week. the only good thing is my dad has a gto twin turbo so when i am bored i can nick it of him, but still not same as it being your everyday car and for them people who say get a cheaper car on the side how do you work that out as you have to buy the car , tax the car, insure the car, and still put petrol in it so how does this become any cheaper .

its hard cos i thinking do i buy something quick in petrol but better mpg or do i go for boring diesel, its a hard life ha ha

its also aswell as having the power its having something bit different from usual bm audi ford ect

I've got an Audi A4 TDI170 Avant. Its been mapped and had things that go wrong removed - DPF, EGR and EGR cooler.

Manages low 44mpg pretty much anywhere and has gone over 50 a couple of times.

Being a diesel turbo it does feel quite pokey. Think the map is supposed to take it over 200HP.

Very good. Plus say £2,000 ish for the conversion? How long does that take to pay for itself?

Also does LPG wear engines an quicker than unleaded etc?

330d ftw

I have just borrowed my mates for a week, she's a 53 plate estate on 246k and touch wood has never had a mechanical failure other than what wear and tear does to any car I.E clutch, breaks apart from that its not wanted for anything, we have named her the enterprise

I put £60 of derv in last Saturday have done just under 400 miles and it still has half a tank! After driving my Scooby that is fûcking amazing and I can just throw the dog in the back so win win and I thought my Zafira derv was good

I paid 700, at the moment 2 trips to Europe, soon 3years on lpg,
Probably does, I did not notice anything yet.
If engine is for petrol only why some put methanol injections,NOS,etc.
If lpg could give you more bhp more owners would use it.
