Well after the wife saying she actualy likes the look of the hatch STI, we have a green light to buy one. I said i would wait untill after summer due to starting a new job etc. But i cant see that happening. Decided against the WRX-S as the EVO write up describes it as a luke warm WRX, so its the full STI. Now to decide on colour. White, Silver & of course Blue are the choices.

Well silver is the most boring colour known to man, with the poorest excuse ever being that "it looks clean longer".
The only exception is if it a nice gark grey colour, anthracite if you will. Something nice, not a boring dull colour. White or blue for me though.

Which model are you planning on going for? There are a lot of good cars to be had!

There is a red one for sale fairly close to me, but its a bit more than i want to pay. Im loving the white colour. STI not fussed about leather etc, my blobeye had PPP so im wanting similar noise & performance but hopefully with a better stereo speakers to keep the mrs happy.

It's a buyers market out there at the moment, don't pay more than you feel that you should have to. What's your budget roughly?

Go for a 330s, the extra power makes a big difference but the keyless entry, start and touch screen sat navigation are a nice addition. Plus rear tints and those seats are a million times better than the standard seats.
330s gets my vote, worth the extra or getting one a year older to even out the purchase price to extras. Also they were all based on 2008 plate cars so keep that in mind
Good luck

I'm not entirely convinced the suspension upgrades on the standard 2010 model make a huge difference most of the time - the 2008 chassis is already a good car. The 2010 revisions (little more than a revised pillowball at the front and lateral sway bars) can quite easily be retro-fitted if you want them but there are other upgrades that are available too.

Pretty decent sat nav head unit.
It also has some gimmicky displays that read from the ECU.
Apparently its got better speakers too, but I think that may have been a specialised use of words.
Fantastic Recaro seats, different wheels, PPP system.
Better though, the 330S is classed as a standard car over a PPP'd car, and therefore cheaper to insure.
Plus you've got a bit more exclusivity.
I have one myself, and its in that pretty nice (IMO) dark grey metallic

If I remember rightly, one of the motoring journals managed a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds in a 330S. Would translate to some pretty meaty extra shove through the mid range over the standard STi.

Ok after driving a 08 330s that was on a 2010 plate and then driving a my11 with with changes that were made I would say there's a difference. Car feels more direct and inspires more confidence in the drive. Yes it's can be retro fitted just for the cost a set of bc or other suspension changes made would be where my cash went.

Whatever you buy give it to Simon (Jolly Green Monster) and get it remapped (In standard form). You may not gain any power figures but the map will be perfectly done for your car. Yes its £600 but its a worthwhile £600

The map does feel as it has more mid grunt. I have a graph some where when I get back to work I will pop it up

But when pushing the car it would definitely be more capable with uprated coils etc.

Doesn't say much for it.
My new one has a forged bottom end, sc46, 6 pot ap's and AST's everything I planned to do to the 330s so traded it in. Full spec and decent pictures will follow in the gallery as and when the new parts arrive
