I read this alot, but are there any gains to an aftermarket header and up-pipe upgrade coupled with a remap or is it purely a modification to compliment a bigger turbo etc?
Edit: For example, if you had a 300bhp STi with standard Turbo, would you stand to gain anything from headers/up-pipe and remap?

I'm planning on going ported headers + HS Up-pipe within the next couple of months; along with a decat turbo-back and remap.
I'm not expecting too many gains, but it's all ground work for a larger turbo later in the year/early next year with potentially a FMIC.
It seems from reading, that despite changing exhaust, intercooler, headers and up-pipe - only the Turbo is actually giving significant gains, and the rest is all just "support equipment".
If I keep all the "support equipment" standard and just bolt on a turbo good for 380bhp, and make 380bhp on the dyno - would I gain more with the same turbo plus headers, up-pipe, intercooler, exhaust or will I make the same power, just with a better driving experience (less lag, etc)?
Sorry for the thread hijack!

As above. I fitted a set of headers in my early days of ownership to a mapped car with a standard turbo. Had the map tweeked and lost power and spool as the up-pipe was to bigger bore.

I'm running japspeed headers and de cat down pipe, fit was not great but got them on.
I ported them aswell.
Massive gain in torque over standard headers.
Big d ported my vf35 aswell.
Here is my graph from lat sat.
Before map was standard car at chritmas with a re map.
Cheers Chris
