I think you've answered your own question. Providing they're looked after, the right mods are added with the right mapper you're going to be ok.

The standard engine isn't designed to be ragged 100% of the time so you do need to show mechanical sympathy and spoil it every now and again.

I drive like i've got Miss Daisy in the back 90-% of the time. However i do like a spirited drive when conditions permit.

We tend to feel a little hard done by when anything goes wrong, however with communities like SN it forces prices right down which makes them very affordable.

How long is a piece of string?

Depends on a lot of variables, regular servicing, driving style, MAF failures, allowed to warm up etc.

190k without a rebuild shows the engine has been well looked after.

You are right, most inductions damage the MAF, the damaged MAF then damages the engine.

You can go MAFLESS by getting a SIMTEK ecu or ESL daughterboard.

sounds complicated lol i think im just going to stay tame and stick with my turbo back stainless and a decent panel filter .....runs like a dream and just keep the affection up by giving the car a good warm up before use and deent oil changes every 4-5 months . And that way hopefully will see me good few more years

If you are running a Decat pipe then you should have it mapped to avoid engine damage down the line.

Got a foz in the family that I used to own and it has 160k+ I ran it with a VF22 for around 15k of those miles and drove it hard.

Serviced at normal intervals using average grade oil. Runs & sounds like its brand new.
