6 speed conversion??
Was possible looking into a 6 speed conversion when i get my bug wrx, was wondering what is required?
Can i use the standard 5 speed clutch/flywheel and starter motor, also are the hubs useable or do i need to change them as well?
I am however aware that i need box/diff/cradle and shafts!
Any advice would be mutch apppreciated cheers wiggy

Well i pickmy new car up on the 27th, its running 336bhp through a short ratio box, but will be wanting to put the power up at some point, and was just thinking that a six speed would be they way to go, also the 6 th gear would be useful on the motorway!

I have had my Bugeye For over eight years and has now got a 6 speed and with a 5 speed light flywheel but it must be better to go for a STi in the first place if you are thinking 6 to start with.

What power are you aiming for ?
Is it still on standard engine ?
Reason I ask is I wouldn't push a standard wrx motor past 350, and at that power the 5 speed is fine. Pointless throwing 1500 quid at something that you dont really need.
If however your planning on pushing the car further power wise then yes, go for it. But then you can pick up a bug sti for peanuts now which already has a 6 speed and 450bhp capable engine.

Fitting a 6 speed just in case the 5 speed goes pop.....???
Crazy. May as well fit a fully forged cosworth 2.35 as well then, just in case hey.
By the end of your box swap youll be 2 grand out of pocket, on something you may never even need.
Now, not sure what your wrx is costing but add on the 2 grand a 6 speed is gonna cost and I bet your not far off bug sti money. And that has a host of goodies a wrx doesnt.

In my very humble opinion, 6 speed conversions are only worth doing on classics, since none of them ever had one as standard.
As above, if you fit a 6 speed at about £2k (with fitting) to a newage WRX, you may aswell have bought an STI.
Exception would be if it were a truly mint, low mileage, one owner type car.

The lad keeps saying he's only gonna do it in the future if his box gives up the ghost, he may not have an extra 2k to throw at an STI right now.
Obviously if you could afford one buy an STI mate better all round package, if not enjoy your WRX and if you blow the box budget 1500-2k for a conversion if that's the route you wanna take,
