De-catting removes the main restrictions in the exhaust so the spool characteristics of the tubo will change. The mapping will bring the characteristics back to a safe level and adjust the fuelling maps accordingly. Thus the car will not run lean and go bang.

Different prespective, depending on who and how the map is done £300 to £650 for open source to Ecutek. £4000+++++ for a engine rebuild when it melts a piston due to detonation or overboosting due to not being mapped.

eBay exhausts are cheap for a reason, they're shïte!

Go somewhere like Cobrasport for quality and price, or buy off one of the many breakers/tuners off here or tuning parts companies.

Where in Wales are you as someone will be able to point you in the right direction. NEVER be afraid to ask any question, yes you will get some ribbing but you will get the answers you are after. Once we were all new to Scoobies and have learnt by asking questions.

Mine gets dirty so quick can't be bothered anymore. If the jet wash don't shift it then tough.

Much better exhausts out there than either of these. I've had a powerflow on 2 of my old cars (one bought like it) and can honestly say they were a major disappointment on performance and noise.

Also, as said already, steer clear of the awful cheap eBay exhausts!

I'm sure if you use the search function there will be ample exhaust threads that you can research to have a look at reviews, style, noise etc so you can find which suits you best

Not to put a dampner on things, but what about the MOT?

I read that if a car without a cat fitted, if the cat was fitted as part of the car's original spec, then it would be a MOT failure.

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice...nges-2012.html

Obviously it's to stop people enjoying their cars.

Some people will refit there cats just for the mot and decat again after,,,,but the easiest way is to find a friendly mot center that will let it pass without having to swap over ,,,,

I'm sure there's a secret group on here that have formed just to wind up tubbytommy

If you're south wales try gving mattybr@poleposition a call and see what he has in stock. You should be able to get what you want fitted and an MOT at the same time.
