Default Why are "sti branded" oil filters so bloody expensive

Not that I'm even considering buying one over an OEM subaru item but why are these oil filters so expensive??

I use either standard subaru filters or UFI or Mahle, 3000 miles for an oil change on mine isnt really going to make much difference, I certainly wouldn't spend that money on a filter to last 3000 miles at all..

Its a better quality oil filter (better oil filtration etc), they did a combo with the filter and an STI panel filter but cannot find it (may have stopped doing it) but that was better value than just the oil filter on its own.

A combo is a better idea. Problem is come service time you would keep the panel filter and still need a replacement oil filter. I think the subaru ones are good value.

Theres a reason why most of the tuners use black subaru branded filter ,blue was ok but not as good as black, and not blue printed... BTW There was a thread about blue printed ones , cant remember the problem but i think it didnt had the perferation holes in the body to alow oil through the filter....

New style in blue
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...item519015aab2

And a blue print one...

Would be interesting to hear from someone Who deals with them often , i'm just quoting some old threads, tuners will use everything you want them to use , but advise different... I might be wrong so would like to hear profesional opinion...Not " i'm using it and it's fine" thing from people like you and me....

I use adl stuff for all my builds...
If you order them and look at the parts there genuine subaru parts in the box..
But by law they have to grind off the brand name...
I brought a clutch slave for 40... Subaru wanted more like 100..
And was genuine part in box..always are.!!!!!
We suply them to all our jap tuners in the area..
And if you get there plugs there denso plugs in the box for half the price..

That plus the fact that RCM are generally expensive.
