Question NEWAGE OR CLASSIC?

Hi all i currently own a 2001 impreza GX (non-turbo) i purchased the car only a month ago for £2000 since then have had cat and brakes done costing £500... i only purchased this model as i have always wanted an impreza but as i am only 22 years old insurance on a turbo version would have stung me so i got non-turbo i have been looking into the classic impreza's the 2000 turbo version and can insure that for about £300 more then my current car does anyone think it is worth selling my car and getting a classic or not? also what would you think my car is worth only mods are cold air induction and scorpion back box... the car is in immaculate condition on very minor blemishes here and there no rust or start of rust motd and taxd all receipts to prove work full service history and all old MOT certificates dating back to very first mot... i am just in the dilema of what to do and thought that some advice could help me make my mind up... sorry to go on and thanks in advance, Scott

Classic Turbo is a better choice if you can afford insurance and running costs.

Hi m8,if you only just brought it, your gonna lose a bunch of money on it so i'd probably wait save a bit then try for a turbo, even put yours up for sale at a price your not going to lose at & if someone comes along & pays that then get one,end of day they do cost to run alot..unless you are lucky i had nearly two years with not a thing going wrong then since december its cost a packet with just a couple of things going wrong.

To be fair the basic running costs of a turbo are not that much more than a non turbo providing you don't cane it everywhere, it's mostly insurance and fuel, a non turbo only does about 5 mpg more under normal driving, but the classics are a completely different car to a newage.

Rust and poor maintenance are the main enemies, find a rust free well maintained example and you will be fine, they can be had at around the £2k mark.

Avoid chaved up examples as they often have bolt on mods like induction kits which kill the maff and in turn the engine, for which the car has not been mapped to run.

see i also prefer the newage looks nicer inside and out hacing said that classic is still nice... i just wanted the turbo version but for a newage turbo'd version is gunna cost 4k a year to insure where as classic is only £1200 a year and at the moment for my neage non turbo its £900 a year...

also shanus1981 i could be interested but need to sell my motor first if i can get the right price for it that is
