Default FMIC/ number plate info

hello guys,

Getting the FMIC fitted near the end of the month so looking at getting a square numberplate made up but just got a couple of questions....

How and where do people mount them off to the side to allow better air flow to the FMIC?

and do people cut out the part of the bumper that is currently there to fix the number plate to? again to improve air flow?

your money would be better spent on a remap.
a fmic will make little or no diference on your standard turbo.
also fitting a mod like an fmic requires a map tweak .

i know it wont make any noticable difference powerwise, was more a saftey precausion.... the guy i bought the car from (hurst cars) advised i put a FMIC on as the standard Top mount isnt brillaint if going over 100mph... and as it will be used on track this will be done on several occasions.....

does it cause any problems running without tweaking the map? As my plan was to fit mods one by one, but if everythings going to need the map tweaking it could get costly/be a waste of time so id be better off buying everything and have it all fitted at once....

fit it all at once then get it mapped, running it without a map tweak is dangerous to your wallet.
you wont be able to keep the standard airbox as its where the pipes to the fmic go anyway so the induction kit will have to go on at the same time.

if i was you id upgrade the brakes and suspension first.

the brakes are shocking and addding more power will end up the other side of a hedge.

also take sometime to learn the handling of a 4wd car with dccd.

For a car with such a low safety rating I am well impressed with how little the passenger cell has deformed on that. Looks like a hell of a whack too. Ouch!

i used the longer brackets that hold the fog light covers in on one side and used number plate fixing tape (double sided sticky tape stuff) on the other .
stayed on and passed the mot for the past 2 yrs

Me neither, seen a fair few wrecks in my time with my mate owning a bodyshop and I would be very surprised if that was 30mph.... not saying it isn't, but hmmmmm. Anyway impressed with how well it stood up to it all the same.

i have to agree, considering how much the front has deformed the cabin looks quite straight.

a case of not having as much skill as you thought..........

Used 2 longer screws and some spacers to go through the foglight cover holes.

Same method as Justin's

To the OP, if you're going to mount the numberplate off-set, then buy a copy fog cover. Saves you putting screws through a genuine one.
