exhaust question.
hi all. i was just wondering if it was worth getting a sports cat or is it much better to have a full decat. also how much restriction does a sports cat give you and will just a sports cat pass an mot.
thanks in advance

Hi mate.Have a full system on my 05 STi put on by Scoobyworld.I have Ninja downpipe with 100 cell sports cat. This replaces the de cat system i had before because distance needed to travel to MOT friendly garage.Had the car mapped to 315bhp with Pipercross Viper induction the only other mod.Happy with that figure and just drive around before MOT to hot up the cat and they do emissions test first at my request.3 years now and passes without issues.

I bought a blitz Nur spec off here and just wondering if I should buy this Ninja downpipe aswell
Sorry to hijack the thread

cheers mate. was there much power loss when you changed from decat to sports cat. my problem is i dont want to pay for somthing that will slow me down. i have my mot on wednesday so i will speak to them and see if they could put a decat through. that might make my decision for me.

I gained about 16 bhp by swapping my 3 inch system with sports cat for a 3.5 inch de-cat system. The mapper did not push it too far as mileage was about 104k and on standard V7 STi internals.

It's not just the power hike but the responsiveness of the car that improves nicely as the tubo spools quicker due to less restriction. So the car would need re-mapping aswell to ensure everything is safe.
I have tubular headers with de-cat upipe fitted as well.

Hi mate,Was not knowledgable when had custom de cat system put on by small local garage who previosly did my MG ZS system.Did'nt know needed mapping and struggled on first MOT after fitting to find friendly garage. So Neil from Scoobyworld fetched my car to fit sports cat.He phoned me at work as the cat would not fit because it was a system in 2 sections fitted by the local garage. That is when i told Neil to put a full system on with the sports cat to cut out any future problems.Still not that clued up,but i believe its the downpipe with sports cat, afterburner de cat centre section and my recently swapped backbox (now Afterburner Raptor).Hope i have answered your query with my limited knowledge.lol.

Hi mate,am dreaming of what sound your car makes with the system you now have.I am happy with the system i have as the new Raptor backbox is 3" pipe with adaptor to fit to 2.5" centre section. It is loud and i'm happy with 315bhp.Financial commitments don't allow me to do all i would like with the car. Not noticed much of a drop in performance.Could this be because car de catted, but not mapped at the time.Car mapped after new system with sports cat fitted. At the time did not have access to internet and did'nt know anyone with a scoob,so was not knowledgable about turbocharged cars.
