Mot -ing my track car
I've been working on my daily driver over the last couple of days getting it ready for its retest... Anyway to cut a long story short its always crossed my mind whether my track car would pass an MOT.
I had a word with my local tester today on his advice and was told under no circumstances would it pass an MOT without the cat fitted ,his words exactly even if it passed its emissions test with a can of beans removing all the nasty gasses if it didn't have a cat then no it wouldn't pass!
Another point raised he mentioned about warning lights ie ABS ,airbag etc, if they were on the dash and light up it would fail!
Now I know the WRC rally cars are all Mot'd .
I'm going to put it in for a test when my 6 speed is fitted end of Jan to see how we get on.
I've explained to him it has a full cage fitted extinguishers etc etc just curious to see if it will pass.

New vosa rules say that if a car was fitted with a cat it needs to have a cat for the mot. Regardless of the readings. As its been said, if they are found to be doing dodgy mot's then the bloke will loose his liceance for life, garage and mot'er will get taken to court.

Regarding the airbag lights and fixed seats etc (this is a worry for me as well), I thought if the car was "purpose built", i.e. not only modified on a whim, it'd pass? I.e. something like rally cars etc, but I don't know if this means built to blue book standards with a real log book, or if it means "stripped out, cage, bucket seats, different steering wheel" etc etc.

The registration is still used to identify the car even though it's sorn, so if it was on the car when
Manufactured It has to have the tests applied to it ie cat, airbag etc...

With the cat you do need one fitted but most half descent testers will pass the car if the emissions are within limits without a cat fitted.
