If I was to get PTMW! PPP'd (as if the wife would allow it ) anyone got any times for the 0-60 / 0-100 or even 1/4s?

Wondering how many seconds/10ths of one could expect to better over standard (5.8 for me )

Meeting Richard Gledhill tomorrow as he's just done the biz to his & if he's going to totally embarass me then I won't even try

Evo mag says
5 seconds to 60(down from 5.4)
14.1 to 100(down from 14.6)

Oddly autocar says 5.6 for the prodrive and 5.3 for the standard car. But the 0-100 is down to 13.9 from 14.9

A 5 second 60 time and 14.1 0-100 time feels about right from when I had my car PPP'd.

I've heard that a PPP'd car can match or exceed a standard STI in the real world(I.e not round a race track), although i'm not inclined to test the theory.

It very much depends on how you launch the car, as to what figures you get. The car is sooo much smoother to drive, faster and much more progressive

Well, a non-PPP'd UK car with other breathing mods is capable of 0-60 in 4.5secs and 0-100 in 13.2secs apparently.
With a PPP it should be quicker still, no?

Stef.

I agree - my non-PPP MY99 was recently (accurately) tested at 4.81 to 60 and 13.3 to 100, without being too violent.

Clarkey - what mods have you done to your MY99 to get that performance?

(only had mine for 4 weeks and starting to get the bug!)

Scotsman,

I have a Scoobysport backbox, Magnex centre section and Scoobysport downpipe. 260bhp at Powerengineering and 248lb/ft torque, it was about 230bhp before any mods. I did have an induction kit but I took it off as it was too loud. I would guess from looking at dyno plots that these figures have a similar effect to the PPP, possibly with a little less torque.

I mate of mine (Dazzler) on this list recorded 5.2 seconds to 60 in a My00 with scoobysport backbox. We tested it using a AP-22 (see

Prodrive Performance Pack.

A client I used to deal with (was part of ICI) made/makes various forms of IR equipment, and twice fitted infa-red timing equipment to my car, once as standard PPP, and once after induction kit, downpipe and straight through centre section had been fitted.

I was driving, so launches were far from the best but I got just under 4.8 with PPP, and a fraction over 4.5 after the other kit had been fitted. Only did one launch each time, as clutch/diff smelt 'well done'

IIRC, Best ever time recorded for a totally standard scoob was 5.05 (Performance car magazine), so allowing for my crap launch ability, I would say you are looking at around half second from std to PPP?

But the PPPs strength is mid range grunt/delivery, so 0-60 probably doesn't tell the whole story

Puff

You know I'm not convinced outright speed is much changed, just how it's delivered....

Having driven non-PPP and PPP cars back to back, the most noticeable difference with the PPP is the amount of 'oommphh' available from 2-2.5k revs whereas the standard really needed 3-3.5k revs to get going.

I found this really noticeable when I took a Skyline (330bhp) out for a test drive. OK so it had and extra 70bhp BUT it had NOTHING below 4k revs - it needed 2nd for a 50mph overtake. So its not just about the power you have, but how/where its delivered...

As a matter of interest, given a Dyno plot of power/torque does anyone know how to calculate the best upshift point? I'd love to know whether its worth holding a gear right to just before the limiter, or where the best point short of that to change up is!

Thx for the info Clarkey

Does the exhaust or backbox make the sound different? Not keen on it being any noiser (or to get more performance is that a side effect?)
