Default 99' type RA's....

I've been looking for a type RA for a while now I really wanted a 95/96 one in white with the roof flap and dccd and low level rear spoiler after seeing a couple sell on here, I've seen these two on pistonheads but don't know anything about the later models...

Are the 98-99 import type RA's all 276bhp?

Will they have forged pistons?

Did only the early type RA's have the closed deck block?

Has anyone on here dealt with jus sports in Lancashire before?

Here are the two cars in question and sorry for the newb questions and also if they've been covered a million times before! There's just too many impreza models its hard to remember the essentials!

97 -00 are all 276hp (if sti not sure about wrx) which is v3-v6, all( as in v3-v6) have stronger pistons (not actually forged but a special type of casting). only v1 and 2 have closed deck not really important unless you are looking at 450hp +.v3 and 4 afaik have stronger and more tuneable heads than v5,v6.

i hope you realise there is a wrx type ra aswell as a sti type ra, the wrx doesnt have the dccd, not sure if it has the roof flap or not ,cant remember

looking at pics neither is a sti ra so no dccd and no sti engine( so no forged pistons and high revving heads), tbh not even sure they are wrx ra could be wrx v-limited, you would need the chassis code to make sure they are what they say.the models do get really confusing ,you can have a wrx ra v limited, wrx ra and wrx vlimited

Yeah they weren't my first choice as in first post would rather have a one with roof flap etc but I'm not sure how often they come up for sale??

I'm just too damn impatient! It's so hard sitting with the money and not going out and buying summit I "might" be happy with lol.

Cheers for the info though, my budgets only really 3k but could stretch to 3.5 for the right classic.

Thanks again

Mick

Been snooping round on there already mate lol, nothing suitable for sale at the moment, I'm checking on here and on pistonheads everyday, trying to stay away from the likes of gum tree and eBay as I'd rather buy from a trusted enthusiast if possible.

Seems to be getting difficult to find what I would call a decent example now.

Regards

Mick

There is a V2 STI RA on ebay for sale. Got a few chavvy bits bolted on but wouldn't take much to return it to its former glory

Yeah seen that one, was on here a few weeks ago as we'll I think, my only reservation with it would be its at the top of my budget and then I would have to replace both bumpers and the wheels etc so by the time I've done these it'll make it a 4k car meaning I could probably have bought a much better example in the first place lol.

Might give him a ring anyway see if theres any rust on the bodywork as that's my main goal finding a rust free one!

Cheers
