gearbox problem

gearbox problem
hi iv got a v5 sti gc8 iv just started to notice that going into 5th gear round 80mph it crunches slightly but at lower speeds its fine can anyone advise me what the problem is. also will i be needin new gearbox or 5th gear replacement or full rebuild? be helpfull if anyone knows how much i would be looking at for whatever the problem is to be fixed cheers

Mine does that, if you dip the clutch and lower the revs it goes in no issue, I would like to know of it can be fixed, was going to get another box but that may have the same issue, My box has done 69,000 and had an fairly easy life

There was a known fault with a nut in the gearbox that wasnt torqued up as well as it should have been at the factory, you have been lucky its lasted 13 years, easy fix if you get it sorted now, wait and it will probably cost you a new gearbox
