Default M.o.t with standard exhaust but car remapped.

Hi everyone been a long while since I've been online. Changed cars since then I sold the turbo2000 and bought an sti bugeye.

My question that I'm hoping someone can answer is basically my sti has been remapped with a full decat system (Hayward and Scott) and the car is 340bhp with a vf34 turbo and pop and bang in the map.

Now my mot is due after Christmas so I've bought a new standard exhaust system with all the cats with it. Now my question is with he car mapped with the decat and obviously the power levels up is there any concern having the standard exhaust e.g running bad and the emission levels passing hopefully as that's the whole point in changing the system.

Any answers appreciated guys
Tim.

As long as you drive off boost it should be safe, As long as the lamba sensors are working it should pass fine, but get it swapped back straight away

What year bug? Mine passes with a full decat 3 inch system.
If you put the full stock system back on itll be grand. You can use some boost. Just dont be flat out everywhere and itll be fine.
Again though if it was me, I wouldnt be putting it on as it isnt a requirement for my 01 bugeye.

2001 uk wrx with upgrade vf24 turbo, sti injectors, diy mapped and a full 3" cobra non resonated system inc decat classic uppipe. No cats fitted whatsoever and the car sailed through the emissions test too, easiky below the co2 etc.
I did it all myself and NI Mot testing is quite strict as it is only conducted at government test centres.

Hi Brendy76 how does it pass the emissions? Is it an import? Mines an 01 bug with a sti lump dropped in it. It's got no cat's straight through system Hayward and Scott.

If I can get away without changing it that would be amazing... Cheers for the reply mate.

Def not an import timbo. Idle emissions are pretty low as long as you have no fueling problems.

Might have to have a go at that then... I know a garage nearby that il go to and see what the level is before I go to the mot, I really thought I would be insanely high with no cats as there's a fair bit of pressure coming out the tailpipe. Thanks for the info tho brendy, it's why I love coming to the forums!

just bear in mind its likely the mot tester will take the vehicle for a decelerometer brake test just to avoid any risk of damage.
suggest you ask them not to drive on boost,im a tester but you,re not exactly local

While I dont advocate driving a car hard should you change back to a std system, it really wont do any harm driving normally.
When mapping a car for a free flowing exhaust, generally you allow for a little more timing towards the top end (think more of an optimisation, rather than to radically alter), worst case your car will pull timing should it begin sensing the slight occurrance of knock anyway.
As I said, drive the car sensibly and it'll have no bother whatsoever.
I do think sometimes things get over exaggeration on subaru forums.
