They've known this for ages, that's why when my local dealer had a refurb, it's Kia all the way.

Writing has been on the wall for ages.

Subaru died when they withdrew from the WRC IMO.

Subaru and IM must bear the blame for this.

They have milked the UK market for what they could, while other countries got better specced cars for less money.
The spate of warranty claims and the advent of the Rover 25 lookalike hatch, has underscored it.

I think the expression is, "Killed the goose that laid the golden egg...".

Sad day, but some of us predicted it when the hatch was released.

Shame to see subaru have called it a day but since the hatchback was made, they didnt sell quite as well as subaru hoped, But they had to bring something special in to compete against the Evo X but even Evo X can cost just short of £50,000 which for a 4 door saloon is on the pricey side seen as you can get a 2nd hand M5 now for less then that

Subaru lost the plot with the hatchback, as did SEAT but they have now started producing saloon cars again (albeit without the performance engines so far)

Totally agree with you Jeff. Nothing worth buying has come out of the Subaru factory for a good few years now & UK buyers have been overpaying for years. Now times are hard & the brand has gone to pot no one is interested anymore.

Not surprised at all. Subaru have made so many mistakes over the past 4 years and they only have themselves to blame.

Not good news for future parts prices or residuals sadly.

have to agree FORD and BMW probably dont make a lot on the RS and M but they do shift their other cars as a result of these on the street, pity Subaru did not buy into this strategy and pitch the new sti prices lower.

The BRZ is a hair dressers car, not what i want in a performance car for the same reason i wouldn't buy the Hyundai Coup.

Time to move on mate.

low powered perhaps but you really can't call it a hair dressers car...go drive one and then make a comment; awesome steering and just a wonderful feeling car, just no bloody torque...way, way nicer to drive than any impreza I've ever driven and I've driven lots.

What puzzles me is when the press such as Evo mag test drive the BRZ they always prefer the Toyota version, i thought they were the same car with different badges.

Anyway the BRZ just doesn't do it for me, I bought my Wagon in 2005 and i am still driving it now and wouldn't part with it.

I don't think i could fit a picnic table, four chairs and a lawn mower in the back of a BRZ and still leave most cars for dead

Quite a shock but I think it was just a matter of time
173 STi sold against 25000 BMW 1 series -(and no mirrors on them )
Where did it go wrong ?

Price point 33k should of been 25-26k
They missed a trick woth the salloon with no big rear spoiler as standard or reasonably prices option
Missed a entry level Sti at 20k
Should of pushed the wrxd more at 20k ( great car but 25k was too much )
CO 2 emmissions didn't do much favours with £460 road tax
Fuel economy at 26mpg woth fuel going up so much
Chocolate engines did not go down well
Spend 33k and you don't expect to have to rebuild your engine under 89k miles
Warrentys that did not pay out on the 2.5
So few dealers left
Not enough stock at dealers to view and test drive
Loss of the rally image
Loss of Colin McRae who made people want to own a Subaru and drive it like we should drive them
Image with the chavs devaluing the 4weeks wages scoobies
Chavs giving them a bad image with dump valves
Better more fuel efficient diesel cars that gave 55mpg woth massive torque
Ken block leaving to go to a ford fiesta his influence was good when putting the car through the paces
The exchange rate /Yen made them very expensive compared to european rivals
Loss of gold wheels and big spoilers for older mid aged /crises men
Loss of the great flat four noise

So many things against the impreza

Shame
Guess I will have to keep the classic and either buy one of the last stis and run it into the ground as the BRZ doesn't do it for me
Or import one in the future especially the 2014 new STi
