Just sold my van and the guy is exporting it back to his country, do I just date the export section on the v5c and sign it?

i'd say no because your not exporting it, thats his job, your just selling it on, non of your business what he does with it once you sell it to him.

Just fill it in as normal, with his uk address, then he can deal with the reat when he gets the v5 back.

Thats what i would do.

I sold my car back in september, it's new owner drove it straight back to sweden.

I had to complete the permanent export part of the V5 (section 11(purple in color)) and send it back, that was all I needed to do. He couldn't register in sweden until the DVLA had received my paperwork

Still received the road fund renewal to months later, But I called and checked with regards to this, car was showing as exported and the nice lady informed me the tax renewal was printed months in advance and just to bin that

in your case it depends if he lives in this country or another, If he lives here, than fill it as normal but if he doesn't fill in the Export section
