Default Tyre sizes

Hi guys,
Sorry i know I should of posted in wheel and tyre section but I need advice ASAP and thought I'll get help quicker here.
Anyway it was dark and I went over a knocked over bollard yesterday and scraped my rear tyre. The tyre can't be repaired so il have to buy a new one.I can get hold of a bridgestone potenza but it's a 225/45/17.my tyres are 205/45/17s on prodrive oz racing alloys. The P1 alloys. So will they fit or will they scrub?
I appreciate any advice as the tyre place near to me is closed.I can get 2 Bridgstone potenzas for £30 which is a bargain. They will be used till march/April when I get 4 new yokos.

I tried 225/45/17 on newage STI wheels on my classic and they rubbed the arches under load, such as cornering. Also, are you suggesting replacing just two tyres with a different size? If yes, then it's a very bad idea. Your car NEEDS the same size all round.

Yep I was thinking of 225 at rear and 205 at front but now I'm thinking that's not gonna work.So now il look for a 205 tyre.

The potenza's seem to be wider than what they state, I recently bought 225/40/17's off a member on here and when put against my old eagle F1 tyres they are quite clearly wider so in theory a 225 is nearer 235 so you may want to take that in to consideration, and I mean they are quite clearly wider

funny you should say that, when i had tyres on my Pff7s 235/40/18 i measured them up against my RE070's on my sti wheels 225/40/17 the potenza were wider! just quickly measures the tread with a tape measure it was about 245? weird!
