Hey chums, haven't posted for a couple of months. I have a impreza Wrx 53 plate Blob/bulb eye. My car is out of action and garaged due to high throttle detonation problems, it started with a major overheat that turned out to be a cracked radiator, that led to hydrocarbon testing and found DET problems with all 4 pistons. Now to drop the engine and find the problem is £1500, that's without fixing the issues and putting the engine back in! ..... Iv always took my car to Torque Developments in lakeside essex. Now they pulled me to one side and told me either, sell the car because of the base value is only about £4000-£5000, Pay to have the work done because of the cars sentimental value, or get a replacement lump ...... But he said to find another garage to do the engine swap as they charge a fortune! Honest i suppose!!! ....NOW, i would think its easier and cheaper to get a new lump, but i need to find a good honest reputable reconditioned engine company that will supply and fit and take my old engine as part exchange??? ..... Does anybody know of such company/garage that will do this with all of the above, plus warranty, good reputation, price, and decent work?? I know some places just use £2.99 spray paint to make it look good but i want GENUINE service! ..... Please help me out guys and gals its breaking my heart driving around in a bsnged out Astra until my pride is back! Im from Basildon essex and don't REALLY want to travel too far. Thanks

Hi mate, I would also say use Slowboy racing for a engine rebuild in the South east. He has a very good reputation within the Subaru community and has built some impressive spec cars.

Is Colchester Essex too far for you?

Either way I use Bob at GBH Motorsport, he has a long list of high end top quality engine builds under his belt, some massive power jobbies too, he's not only a subaru specialist but all Jap cars in general.
