Try disconnecting the battery and letting the ecu clear.

When you turn the ignition on, you should clearly hear the pump prime.
It runs for about five seconds, then cuts out once it's up to pressure.

If it's NOT priming, it's back-seat out, undo the cover and first off, check that it's getting power, (multimeter, circuit tester).
Then have a close look at all connectors.

If all is OK, it may be time for a new pump.

There will be a cover with 6/8 screws fixing it down. Remove this and your pump is there.

Time to remove the pump and test it away from the tank.

Out of interest, you don't have an alarm/immobiliser on the car, do you?

I had the same issue on my UK car, it turned out to be a issue with the OE Sigma alarm, tested everything and it gave me a good excuse to get a Walbro pump for it anyways!
but it turned out to be the OE fit Sigma alarm/immobiliser, namely the immobilization circuit.
what we had to do was to bypass it (strangely easy to do) and she fired up, but the Alarm circuit was still active, so in the event of a break in the alarm would still sound.

turn ignition on and listen for a sound like a hum and click then off, thats your fuel pump, if u dont here that its the pump, or u can try disconect battery press and hold brake pedal, resetting ecu might clear something. worth a try happened to me once - was the pump.

Soldering iron I just used some butt connectors. The bit I found hardest was having to put the electrical connectors into a tank full of petrol.

Aye, on my MY99 Uk wagon the wires were totally different and I had to cut them off the original fuel pump wiring and solder
