As the title, i have some forged pistons and want to make a start on building my new engine, they came out of my previous engine and are coked up, so how do i make them nice and shiny again.

i'd also like to know where the best place is to get some new rings,and any recommendations as to what make / type to get, they are wiseco pistons.

a normal parts cleaner would do the trick, using brake and parts cleaning fluid. Dont use the likes of nitromorse etc as it ruins pistons.

For the rings i'd try advanced automotives, i got some for my mahle forged pistons from them for less than £100

Cheers, any more suggestions, i'm lazy and don't fancy trying to scrub them up.

you dont really have to scrub them to get them clean, the parts cleaner is a good product and will do most of the work for you, you just need a descent brush with semi stiff bristles and it'll shift the crap.

Iv used petrol & a hard brush to good effect in the past, but no smoking LOL. I think your rings need to be Wiesco to match your pistons, I think Lateral do them.

I wouldn't bother as cleaning could damage any coating that were applied to the piston crown. It's not like there coked up with big lumps of carbon like in the old days of 4* leaded. I would just clean the ringlands with petrol of brake cleaner.
