help help engine swap
I presume it's an ej20 impreza engine and from a newage, and yours is a classic.
If so then yes, you just need to use your inlet manifold Ht leads and coil pack.
Also bare in mind if yours is an sti v3/4 it may have better cams if the doner engine is a newage wrx, you may want to remove the heads and just use the short motor.

All ej20 engines and boxes ARE interchangeable, the only difference on newer ones is 4 or 6 bolts on gear box but they still fit, some of the heads have different inlet manifold fixing points but the blocks are the same.

I'm not disputing it won't fit
but certain parts of his engine may need to be retained dependant on year is what I'm saying like manifolds, coils, etc hope that clears it up
But yes as a short motor it will be straight swap

That's correct, version 1 to 4 can use the same inlet manifold and they are interchangeable but version 5 & 6 are different so you can't bolt a version 1 to 4 inlet manifold to a version 5 or 6 engine, the short blocks are the same but watch the compression ratio and buy the appropriate head gaskets.
You will have to put your heads on if you decide to JUST use the short motor from the car in question yes, but not if the engine overall is the same as yours I.e same wiring to the sensors, inlet manifolds change over etc as they do vary I'm just not sure on what years tbh but Paulo above has given you the info on that side, may I suggest you do a simple compression test on the engine in question BEFORE you put it in the car, could end up saving you a lot of time and money
