Default Suggestions on making my car ........

Right iv just bought an impreza sport 2.0l non turbo, I love the car but wouldn't mind a bit more speed lol.
Any ideas anyone... Apart from sticking a turbo on or getting an sti.?I'm only 19 and can't afford the insurance already tried lol.
Cheers Dale

Maybe - but not really worth it. A sport is the wrong place to be if you want pace but the right place to be if you want traction and the looks of an Impreza. If that's important to you then you will have to live with what you have, it it's not that important then buy a TDi of some description and remap away

Stick an un-equal length manifold and exhaust on it, a panel filter and enjoy the burble like I did. Just don't try to race anyone

Are panel filters better than other options such as mushroom fiters?

Panel filters are better, mushroom ones just suck in hot air.
You also have to understand that any modifications will add to your insurance, but there are better (and cheaper) hatch backs out there if you wanted more umph.
As said, the sport is not the right place to start, especially if you want to modify it (you cannot turbocharge the engine etc).
