Not a lot of point asking what you'd take for the brake calipers and discs as they obviously don't work well enough to sell on with a clear conscience!
Seriously thought, I'm glad to hear that you came out of it better than your car.

Cheers guys. Thought it was my final moments too and amazed I was relatively unscathed. It's only a lump of tin and the insurance have finally offered a decent amount.

So after the insurance pays out don't they want the car or do you have to buy it off them?

Gutted for you. Shows what a good car scoobs are in a heavy crash though. Your lack of serious injury proves that.

Railway cutting. Disused but still a bit of a drop.

Exactly. Don't think a normal car would withstand that sort of thump.

Within indicated speed limits. The old bill stated I was going a little bit to fast for the slippery road conditions. Roads were greasy but took me by surprise. The bridge follows a sharp bend.

I'm sure there are plenty of cars on the road where a crash of this weight would have sadly resulted in loss of life. Sorry it's at your expense but i'm actually quite encouraged by this, using my car as a family car.
When i was looking at buying a new car one of the things that swayed it for me to buy an Impreza was an article in Firehouse magazine. The article was about how strong these cars were and how occupants escaped injury where it would normally be fatal. One of the points in the article was how the fire brigade had trouble cutting the roofs off impreza's because of the B pillar strength. Guess this is the Rally heritage.

Ooh, nasty!
Glad you're not seriously hurt though, the safety devices worked.
