Removing a dump valve and going back to stock
Hi All, I have a very annoying blitz dump valve fitted onto a 2003 Sti that I recently bought. It's driving me up the fecking wall, pssssshhh pssssssshhh all the bloody time. I am getting a little tired of the attention, and am convinced it does nothing for the power. I have searched through the BOV related threads here to look for some advice how to remove this damn thing, but am sadly none the wiser. So, at the risk of asking a previously well covered question, could anyone give me some advice on :
1. How to remove the dump valve
2. What to put in it's place (i.e. what was there before the dump valve was there ?)
3. Any other tips welcome
If it'll make giving advice any easier I can post some photo's tomorrow of the current set-up.
Thanks in advance
Andre

Im in the same boat as you mate, Ive got an HKS SSQV blow off thingy that is driving me nuts as well. I keep meaning to swap it over and sell the stupid thing lol.
You'll need to get a hold of either a OEM recirculation dump valve, or an aftermarket recirculating one to fit in place of the one you have. An OEM one should only be around £20 used, and an aftermarket one maybe £40-50.
It''ll be a straight swap with the one you have, but you will prob need the pipe which redirects the spare boost back into the intake, but that'll only be a couple of quid.
Or you could just blank it off and create that mad compressor stall chirp the rally cars have

To remove it just a couple of bolts holding it on to the intercooler plus the small hose that goes on the dump valve and then there is a blanking plug in the hose below it you can pick the standard ones up cheap on the for sale section on here plenty of the on ebay aswell 20 minute job here is an example of the standard one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item2ebd6c8364

OP, i think the most expensive bit to put it back to standard re-circ will be the shaped pipe that goes from the valve to the intake. Not sure how expensive the black subaru pipe is but the samco items aint cheap.

You can look on you tube for removal guides there are loads on fitting a new vta dump valve and you can watch those then reverse the process its very easy DIY but the clip holding the bung in is a b*tch to sort out

At last scoobynet is getting better
People are removing their dump valves
They have been saved
People will no longer laugh at them
The teenage girls at mcdonalds will move onto lads with oversizes trainers ,track suits and rear ward facing baseball caps driving fiestas with dodge viper stripes and clip on exhausts
The scoobies will run better too
And Subaru will become the enthuastists car again rather then the chav chariot when they put their dump valves on
No more wwwhhhoooosssshhhhhhh
Thank god

My Baileys dump valve went within a week of owning the car, total waste of space, stunk of exhaust fumes and made a really annoying noise. The car runs better on a Subaru re-circ valve in my opinion.

I gotta be honest, I testdrove three blob's before buying one - each one had a DV of some kind so I assumed they were standard.
It was quite refreshing to find a car without one! These cars have enough audio road presence as it is!

I've had my wrx a week and find its fitted with a bailey dump valve. Its high on the list of bits to change but the car has had a remap. How much difference to the fueling will the recirculation valve make ? As it must be adding air but this air has already been metered by the maf

Thanks for all the feedback gents. So, I need to buy the OEM re-circ valve, and then fit it. It's reconnecting the thicker hose back into the turbo that's got me stumped. It seems to be a special type & shape of hose that connects from the re-circ valve back into the turbo. Any idea where one can pick this hose up ? At the moment, the previous owner just stuck a bung of sorts in there.
I will keep an eye out for one on ebay. At that point I will post a few photos just to make sure I'm on the right track. It will be a welcome relief when it's gone though, I'll tell you that.....
Thanks again
