Off to look at a PPP Hawkeye tomorrow - advice plz
4 years after selling my Hawkeye STI I'm off to Adams Subaru tomorrow to testdrive an almost identical one. Have a look at this and let me know what you think:
Positives:
26k on the clock
Prodrive pack
Flawless bodywork other than a tiny scrape on the underside of the front bumper
Mint interior
Stone guard grills on the front
WR Blue
12 month warranty
Cambelt done
Negatives:
It's up for £15k
24k on the clock - I put 45k on mine in 2 years and felt using it a lot helped keep those oil/piston demons away. How is the 2.5 at this age and mileage?
It has a towbar on the rear so I'm wondering what stress this has put on the car
Same crappy OEM stereo but could also be a positive
So, let me know what you think.

My thoughts exactly and I have no intention of paying any more than 10k for it or 11k with a lot of extras added. The towbar does worry me as I'm sure the STI is not allowed to tow anything.

I'd hang fire and not rush if i were you, plenty of decent cars about if you bide your time, and christmas is around the corner so there will be some desperate people about, traders included, if you really want it offer them £9k and then walk away if they don't go for it.

As above , if the engine had been forged & built correct with all corr paperwork , I would pay that , giving it was a late registered 1
What year is it on , just even tho mine is a MY06 as is this car , it's a 2009 car so to me it was worth the higher end retail price - if this car is a 2008 & has the above I don't see an issue with the £15k price tag
if it has standard internals - you need to do your homework & check everything 3 fold
Raise the issues & get the price down
Good luck
Regards

I've just had a look on their website. Nice car, but £15k
£15k gets you one of these.

Put it this way, I know which one I'd have.

If you go on Pistonheads & just put in your min & max price (eg. 8/9K - 15K) you will see some nice examples pop up & it should give you more of an idea whether the one your are going to check out is worth it.
In the present market it does seem to be not a lot of car for the money you are looking to splash out IMO.
The main reason so many people are breaking their cars rather than selling them intact is because they are not getting the amount they want.
Just want to be helpful rather than throwing the proverbial spanner in the works mate.
Good luck in your quest.
