Default Tow car figures

I've read the towing sections of the DVLA site and still a bit confused.

I have a Volvo S60 which I think means GVM of 2010kg, a towing capacity of 1600kg and a maximum combined weight of 3500kg as I haven't passed the trailer test.

I am looking to use the Volvo to tow my Impreza to/from track/strips.

Am I right in thinking this will be fine if I can geta trailer/car combination of 1490kg or under?

And the plated weight on the trailer needs to say 1490kg or less? How easy is it to get plates changed?

Hmmm, ok, you have braked and unbraked trailers, the weight difference between them is pretty big, so I take it you are talking about a braked trailer here?
Also your gross weight of the car, classic or newage?
Trailer weight??

an unbraked trailer is usually a max of 750KG. i think you are going to struggle on your current license to keep everything under 3500kg.

Your car will weigh in at over 1200kg's so you're looking at a trailer less than 300kg's. I don't think that you'll manage it.

You will need tow lisence As it will go on the Volvo mam weight and the trailer mam weight regardless what your train weight actually is.

The other thing to think of is the Volvo tow capacity is very low how heavy is the Scooby. I'd guess you be looking at a wet weight of around 1100kg plus Spairs that leaves only 500kg for a trailer which I think your struggle to finf

Ok I think I am getting there.

If I take the test, is it likely I will be able to get my Impreza on a triler and keep the weight within the towing limit of the car (1600 kg) ? I have no idea on what a trailer weighs!!
