hi iv got a wrx 04 plate iv just had mods recently with a decat up pipe and im wondering should i fully decat the car i have a 3 and half inch system from the turbo with a 5inch tail pipe just after some info cheers

 

yes..pointless decatting the uppipe without doing the rest.. ie downpipe and 2nd cat. plus you will need it remapping

 

Im going down the same route apart from the up pipe as that can mess with the spooling of the turbo depends on what make the up pipe is tho i have 3 inch cat back was thinking about 3 inch decat down pipe might need to be remapped tho

 

i will just be running an STi up pipe, Prodrive sportcat down pipe and a H&S 2.5" system....
one cat in the system..... good for 350BHP anyway.

your 5 speed box wont cope with much more than 330lbs/ft anyway.

PS. remap is best after this, although I believe that with a sport cat the car would still be ok to drive, just not at its best.

 

you wont see anywhere near 350 bhp with just those mods.. if your car isnt an sti. if its a wrx you will need a bigger turbo vf34/35 ect bigger injectors pink 550s sti top mount intercooler ,walbro fuel pump,full decat exhaust and remap..oh you will also need something to stop the bugger too

 

I agree with the above comment i was talking to Jura about it i have vf28 in my garage got an sti tmic all i need is the injectors then i will fit it all at once and get it remapped

 

+1 never get near 350bhp without a new turbo and injectors

 

my car is pushing 330 with one cat so im thinking doi take the other cat off iv got vf30 turbo 560cc injectors fel pump sti intercooler and a sti re map

its what the garage said to me its been remapped to the samea an sti ????

 

i think they are talking sh1te,

an 04 sti has a different turbo,injectors and avcs heads and no cat in the uppipe.

did they also tell you it was 330bhp?

 

ye that whatthey told myy missus coz i was in afghan at the time the car went in to the garage iv got a bigger turbo injectors and no uppipe cat might take it to deamon tweaks for therolling road

Sorry... I took it for granted that supporting mods would be fitted...

my answer was that this exhaust system will run 350BHP with the supporting mods, which the OP hadnt suggested he had therefore the system I proposed would be more that enough to cope with his needs.

 

As I said you will start to munch gearboxes at much over 340/340 on a 5 speed box.

 

Little bit of mechanical sympathy and you can run a 5 speed at well over that.
Even with standard power a gearbox can **** itself if driven like a ****,

 

I agree, the Driver maketh the car.
However not knowing or implying what the guy drives like I was erring on the side of caution and what is generally accepted to be the g/box limits for reasonable reliability.

 

its yet to be confirmed what bhp he is running, i wouldnt take the garages word for anything after telling him it had an sti remap.

im betting he finds out its standard

 

Once it had all the mods, turbo, injectors, top mount, fuel pump, exhaust etc it was then remapped by Andy Carr.
