Default Bug 2002 JDM STI

Hello,

I've had my Bug 2002 JDM for a few months now and just wondering what the actual power of the thing is? is says 282PS on a plaque on the drivers arm rest are these values true (I know they had an agreement in japan about power figures back then)?

Anyway is there any value in getting it mapped, does a PPP even exist for a JDM car? I would ideally like a prodrive map as the car is completely standard and maybe a 3rd party map would make it more undesirable moving forwards?

Its a bit of an animal to be honest not sure if a map would improve drivability/ possibly even mpg as has been mentioned on WRXs

Thoughts/opinions welcome!

I dont believe the PPp would be applicable to JDM car, nothing wrong with getting it remapped with aftermarket software, will get more power across the range and would most likely never have any negative effect on resale value.

Plus you may see better mpg as i know i did when im not having a bit of fun

Just because you map it dont mean you have to use all the power, you have got controll over that right foot you know besides as soon as you drive it mapped you will be wondering what all the fuss was about and end up loving it let the modding begin

PPP is not an option on a JDM car.

Get a different exhaust system on it, get it serviced, new plugs and get it mapped by one of the respected guys on here - Andy F/JGM/Bob/Duncan etc.
