i think it all depends really, like anything you get some quality things from china, but alot of the mainstream parts that they sale are copys.japan use quality materials and parts are of O.E quality.but china are known for using inferior materials to make a quick buck.

Material quality is the main problem with many Chinese products. They look good and mostly well finished but can be made of cheese and have a relatively short lifespan! There are exceptions of course, but these are usually made by the larger corporations often for well established brand names, often Japanese (even though they hate each other!)

I buy and sell a lot of stuff made in China, through UK wholsalers though, and not scooby related.
What I would say from my experience is that if you are prepared to pay their (the Chinese) asking price you will get the quality of goods you ask for.
If you try and shave the price in any way, you'll get tat.
Having said that, there is also an element of pot luck about trading with the Chinese as well - keeps things interesting

In my experience 'Made in China' is a euphemism for poor quality sh1te!

Avoid like the plague is my motto!
