Those with smaller front plates
Which site did you get them from?
What size did you get? and any pics please.
Went to my local and he wouldn't do one for me as he said it was illegal.
Even though I told him I'd only be using it for shows and meets.

If you have a private reg with less characters than a normal length number plate providing the spacing around the letters&numbers , between and they are correct size you can still legally run a shorter plate.
Any smaller letters / numbers and they are illegal. To me it's not worth a fine but others have no issues. I will try and find the dvla guidance.
Edit: here you go a bit of info http://www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/forms/~/m...lets/V796.ashx

DVLA do not specify the size of plate your vehicle must display but do specify the font you must use, the height of this font, minimum margin size, gap between lines (if a two line plate) etc. If you qualify as an Imported vehicle and can satisfy the above criteria then you can legally display a plate with bike size font (64mm) rather than the standard UK car size font (79mm). In the 2002 instrument you will see that there must be a gap of 5mm between lines on a two line plate, you must have at least 5mm as a margin top and both sides. There must also be a bottom margin of at least 13mm and the legal endorsement must be at least 5mm away from the bottom of your registration.
I have private plates on both of my subarus, both have a single number on them.
I just followed the legal requirement guide lines regarding the amount of border required and cut a bit off either end with a sharp hacksaw, then rounded the edges with a file.
The one on the front of the impreza fits perfect on the raised section.
