Default What engine oil for a WRX Newage?

My cars due due for a service next week but I don't want to chance it with the oil going low, so I want to top it up with something to last until the service.

Not sure what the previous owner used.

Can anyone recommend a grade of oil for my car?

Was thinking of buying some Shell Helix.

In the strictest sense, you shouldn't mix different brand / viscosity oils as they all have their own additives.

How low is your oil right now? If it isn't below the L mark, you should be fine until next week (unless you're driving your car everyday like you stole it )

Or get the oil changed now? It's only a week really...

As I understand it, it's fine to mix , especially as its only for a week.

As for oil it's a can of worms as everyone has their favourites - I use 5w 40 shell helix fully synth. Check out euro car parts , they are doing it for £26 delivered

Save money by buying your own oil to provide for the service. Use some of that to top up if necessary. However it should deffo be alright for a week unless you're going on a long run.

If you fancy a bit of DIY then here is a good thread I just found

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...nge-guide.html

In terms of an oil change, the Scooby is the easiest car I have done this on in terms of accessibility – even when factoring in the disconnection of the crank sensor bit.

If your not lowered then you don’t even need to jack the car up!

How low is your oil bud?

Unless its dangerously low I wouldn't bother for a weeks time

I use the larger K&N oil filter, with the nut shaped end, as Subaru changed to a smaller oil filter about 3 years ago, just me being suspicious. Size matters you know.

Some oils DO NOT MIX due to several additives, one of my mates who ownes his own garage showed me how some oils when mixed can congeal,

So if you do not know whats in it i would drop the lot and fill with your chosen oil.

The engine will run for ages with NO oil in it .... although I wouldn't recommend it!

If there's oil on your dipstick just wait the week without worry.
