Default Twinscroll choices

So i have been slowly piecing together and researching the next batch of upgrades that will be going on over the next few months. I have been searching around for the best twin-scroll options, i have came across a few turbo's that are decent spec. Im looking for something that would be good for up to 450bhp at the most i would think, that as as similare spool characteristics to the vf36, if not better. Car is a daily driver and the odd track day probably when done

Current setup:
VF36
spec c headers and up pipe
Milltek DP
Sports hi flow center cat
3" cat back
Hyperflow TMIC
500cc injectors
Deatchwerks fuel pump
Cosworth panel filter
Heat grade 7 plugs
Perrin silicone intake
Grimmspeed EBCS

Recent ej20 rebuild includes:
Wiseco pistons
Eagle rods
Cosworth head gaskets
ACL bearings
ARP head studs
11mm sti oil pump
New timing belt kit with waterpump
Refurbished dual avcs heads

Few twinscroll options i have seen that are good for 400+:
LM400-S60 - Turbo dynamics
LM420-S60 - Turbo dynamics
MD321T - Lateral performance
MD321H - Lateral performance
SC42 - scoobyclinic
Blouch 1.5 XTR

Supporting mods will include
reflowed injectors from lateral performance, approx 800cc
Turboxs fmic
Kstech intake

Anyone know what would be the best option? The LM turbos seem like best value coming with Zircotec Ceramic coating and new water and braided oil lines. Is there any other turbo's i should be looking at or any issues or should be aware of with any of the above?

Hi there

Blouch 1.5XT-R is based on the 20G,2.5XT-R is based on the Garrett core(here known as SC42),LM-400 and MDX321H are similar, both has been developed with Turbo Dynamics for Lichtfield and Lateral Performance(both has using same exhaust housing, both have Zircotec Ceramic coated housing),both are sold with fitting kit

We are run single scroll MDX321T on the 2.1L and has been awesome.

Yes is there MDX321T Twin scroll(there is still listed as MD321T,this X means Billet)

http://lateralperformance.co.uk/prod...et_twin_scroll

Yes and NO on the both, both turbo(LM and Lateral) has been developed by Turbo Dynamics for Lichtfield and Lateral perfomance,Lateral Performance using same exhaust housing as LM,both using same billet turbine wheel

Scoobyclinc developed with Blouch XT-R range,SC using own exhaust housing(7cm) and Blouch using bigger housing(8cm and 10cm)

Which turbo is best, depends on your bhp target

Any turbo what you are mentioned should perform well on yours build,SC42 is cheapest option and have good results like on single or twin scroll applications.Same as LM-420 or MDX321T,both has been tested by people who run them,as I said,I've only experience with single scroll MDX321T,I would speak with Mark@Big Fud,he running SC42 Twin scroll on his Spec C and about the LM speak to Shaun here,MDX321T Twin scroll running Bicco

ceramic coating costs an extra 250 quid on the sc42, making it 1750 + vat, whereas i thought the lm420 has it included in the price for 1495 + vat, Im just waiting back on some emails to get most up to date prices. Ill try get hold of the guys you mentioned to get some hands on info from them

i was recommended the MDXLM450-S60, by Turbo dynamics, they said it will give OE like spooling with amazing top end! so am i right in thinking i could get to about 450hp with one of these, with FMIC, 800-900cc injectors, intake and a decent remap on 99? i dont fancy going messing with 20% meth really as its going to be a daily driver still.

Yep sounds about what you need to me, He would reccomend those turbos he manufactures them, lol, Not so sure about the 'OEM spool' on a larger turbo though, I would have thought it wouldn't spool as quick as a VF36 as they are one of the best/quickest spooling twinscroll turbos,

Don't forget clutch mate, It might not last long and you don't want it going during a mapping session

Read my project thread if you want to see how the LM400 & LM450 compare to the VF twinscroll. Pages and pages of testing information for you to fall asleep over!

Cheers Shaun, ill have a read in work today!

I have an Exedy clutch in mine already, not sure which model it is though, Probably a slight improvement on standard one. I was planning to replace it if it goes soon enough after the new turbo goes in

You won't be disappointed with the lm450 I'm sure, as many others will probably vouch I love mine the low down spool is gret considering its a fairly large turbo, it gets up an goes as soon as you touch the throttle I find, and as Shaun documented on his findings the lm450 has near enough the same low down spool as the standard unit and quickly outruns it within a few rpm, I'm sure it will have a big smile on your face although that said you probably get a smile from any of the turbos mentioned

Is there any point in switch to gtspec headers and up pipe with lm450? or will they be too laggy?

Better to stick with OEM twin scroll headers IMO. They are very good as is.
What size cone air filter have you fitted?

its not a cone, more of a cylinder shape, this one here:

Looking at that pic, (looks like the AEM design one) I wonder if it will be large enough to flow enough air for 450bhp > & that turbo? You may be better off with a large cone K&N or APS filter.

As Ricky said stick with OEM Twin scroll headers, they're good and if they're not broken don't replace them, aftermarket twin scroll is not the best option in most cases, somewhere is thread on Nasioc comparison between the Tomei(many people saying they're best) and OEM Twin scroll

73mm MAF diameter is good up to about 450awhp according to their site. I'm not sure I can fit a bigger filter without shortening the Maf pipe

Its more the size of the filter itself and not air intake diameter which may be a restriction? But give it a try it might work out ok.
