Have a genuine interest in this car. Does anyone know it? History? Owner? Any comments or opinions would be appreciated. Not sure on the mods though! Thanks

That's not over priced if its right with no accident damage as that tends to be the biggest problem with cars like this, That is a JDM one, A UK one will cost you another £5k if you can find one, There is only 9 of them left now I think, Fud has one, Andy.F has one and another in manchester, Not sure where the others are, Probablly wrapped in bubble wrap somewhere

In all seriousness if you want to know the history or owner get on the 22b site, They have a registry, But if it is right its a bargain just a shame it's not standard IMO.

Oh, It will be this one

Had to read that twice then, Thought you'd seen it in a hedge, lol, I'm pretty sure the people who have them know what they are, Fud was looking for a while for his, Turned up less than 5 miles away from my house and had been there years, I never saw it once.

I have seen this car a few times and have met the owner! it's very nice!

Hopefully it will go to someone who would appreciate it, not just stick it back up for sale for 5k more!

I have seen this car in the flesh. Richey is a top bloke and is really busted to be selling after all the hard work.

I'd have it in a blink of an eye, but I am skint!

Thanks for all your responses. Something is telling me a car like this needs to be as standard as possible.

Depends on the mods. In this case they are probably a plus point, as standard internals - even on a 22B - can be an issue.

What aload of bollicks There wasn't a £20,000 difference at all and all the cars were sold in the first month,The Jap cars were brought out in 1998 and uk cars a year later 1999 They were £40,000 new.

The car above is priced very well indeed .

your probably right about the 20 grand bit lil,my memory isnt the best. What i do remember was going to the 1999 motor show to see a P1 in the flesh (i had one on order) and being offered the 22b import for the same price as the p1 £31,500. As history proves I made the wrong decision as the P1 lost value at a stoopid rate ...if I knew then what we know now I would have had the 22b...it being imported put me off at the time.

Tbh standard internals on a 22b will last as long as any other jap car as long as its had the right fuel.

Now this car is cheap quite high on the miles seen paint needs tlc but a great base track car

Maybe lowest mileage one in UK?
Deffo one off the lowest uk cars there is a few jap ones under 10k still

A jap 22b should be any where from 23k-27k depending on miles and condition A uk car with fsh and in amazing condition should be £35,000 min+

There were not "too many" 22B's made though chap and definately no leftovers. If they did offer you one at the same money as a P1 (which I doubt) then you were a fool to knock it back.
14K off your cossie, that's because they did have leftovers. Nobody wanted one even though it's a half decent car.

Agree but doing this makes me feel i'm "trying" to make a car original "again", so kind of takes the originality factor out of the car. Like dressing Jordan up in a nun's outfit (don't know if the analogy is quite right but hey).....

Thing is Adam, it is near enough standard. The engine has just had forged internals which is a good thing and the ecu upgrade is only a bonus, you are gaining peace of mind. If you really wanted to knock the guy down a chunk to get the alloys refreshed and painted the correct gold and away you go. Standard looking but safe reliable 22b. If you ever wanted more power then injectors and turbo, map tweak and away you go. Pop the standard parts in bubble wrap in a box and refit when you sell it.

Go for it, you won't regret it

there were some for sale in 1999 at the London motor show,I even had fliers ,but gave them away with all my P1 literature...deffo 31,500.and there was more than one NON subaru dealer selling them (all imports) @ that....like I said I bought the wrong one...and probably done the same again but hey ho im happy
