Default Couple of newbie Q's

Well folks I'm only a few days away from picking up my 1st Scooby (2003 Blobeye WRX STI Type UK). And I've got a couple of newbie questions to ask!

I took the car out for a drive the other day and absolutely loved it... I've looked at a few vids before hand and noticed that when I started the car up the dials/gauges didn't move before startup?

Like here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=t_rFmngbcV8

Is this ok/normal? The car has an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser so not sure if that would make any difference?

Also... having looked at other vids on youtube I noticed the infamous beep and flash when nearing the rev limiter... when speaking to my mate who currently owns the car he said he wasn't aware of this and not sure it works/or is configured? Can/Should this be able to be set on all STI's?

Thanks in advance - I'm hoping this will be the height of my newbie q's

Ash

It is only the JDM spec sti that has the instrument cluster with opening ceremony (sweep). The type UK has the same clocks as the WRX but with the sti logo.

2003 type uk does not do the sweep of the dials at startup, i think that is on the JDM(Japanese Domestic Market) Version and later cars, rev limit light and the beep can be set on the 03 type uk, get the manual when you buy it it's all in there, good luck.

The rev limiter can be set using the stick with rev above it, your handbook will have all the information you need to set it

on the 2004 sti type uk i have you change the rev limit alert with the little twisty dial under the revometer, it then tells you on the tiny display what rev its set at, you also then can turn on bleep on and off

LOL at "revometer"

It's a tachometer, or tacho, for short.
